Iowa's ADRC Training, Technical Assistance, Call Center, & Resource Database
In the fall of 2024, Iowa’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at the Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) at the University of Iowa was awarded a grant through Iowa’s Health and Human Services. Through this work, the UCEDD at CDD will support Iowa’s Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), providers, individuals, and caregivers through specialized training, technical assistance, our Iowa Compass call service and resource database. Our goal is to enhance service delivery, improve coordination, and strengthen outcomes for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Our ADRC Network Partners
Iowa’s Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) network relies on trusted partners to ensure that individuals and caregivers can find the right help, no matter where they start. Iowa Compass forms the backbone of this system—building on decades of experience to offer a seamless, coordinated No Wrong Door approach. The Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Disability Access Points (DAPs) work together to serve as the network organizations providing navigation services across the state. Together, they guide Iowans to the resources and support they need to thrive.

Iowa Compass
Now serving as the lead agency for Iowa’s ADRC Training, Technical Assistance, and Call Center, Iowa Compass continues to empower Iowans with disabilities, aging adults, and families/caregivers by maintaining the state’s resource database and offering expert guidance on navigating complex service systems.

Area Agencies on Aging
For decades, Iowa's AAAs have played a vital role in supporting older adults and their caregivers. With deep roots in local communities, these agencies have long been trusted partners, helping individuals navigate aging-related services and stay connected to the resources they need.

Disability Access Points
Building on decades of service, Iowa's DAPs have grown from mental health and disability service regions and other community supports to become trusted points of access. DAPs continue this legacy by offering a single, welcoming entry point for individuals with disabilities to connect to vital services and supports in their communities.
The goal of The Commons is to be a one-stop-shop for service navigators and professionals to access training, resources, and build community across the ADRC Network.
