The Center for Disabilities and Development Community Partnership Advisory Council (CPAC) is comprised of people with disabilities, family members, and other stakeholders who are actively engaged in addressing priority issues that affect the lives of individuals with disabilities.  CPAC provides input and guidance of the work of both the UCEDD and the HAWK-IDDRC.

Membership involves a range of strategic partners, including representatives Developmental Disabilities Council, Disability Rights Iowa, and several state agencies.  All CPAC members share a commitment to increasing the independence, productivity and community participation of people with disabilities and building the capacity of Iowa’s service system to support them.

The role of the CPAC as defined by the Developmental Disabilities Act are to:

  • Consult with the Director of the Center regarding the development of the 5-year-plan.
  • Participate in the annual review of and comment on the progress of the Center in meeting the projected goals contained in the plan.
  • Make recommendations to the Director of the Center regarding any proposed revisions of the plan that might be necessary.
  • Meet as often as necessary to carry out the role of the committee, but at a minimum twice during each grant year.
