Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) – Community Resources

CDD Clinical Services: CDD offers a wide range of caring services through its specialized clinics. These include an Autism Clinic, Transition Clinic, Wheelchair Clinic, and Neuromotor Clinic. Expert staff work in teams to provide assessments and personalized care plans for each person.

Money Follows the Person (MFP): In Iowa, MFP helps people with intellectual disabilities and brain injuries move from large care facilities to their own homes in the community. Specialists help people who want to leave the facilities make the transition to living in the community.

Iowa City Community School District Work Experience+ Program: Employment specialists help high school and middle school students with complex needs in Iowa City get ready for work and life after graduation. They help students explore careers, build skills, and plan for the transition to adulthood.

Early, Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) Program: EPSDT makes sure kids’ health problems are found and treated early. EPSDT provides wellness benefits for all children and youth who are eligible for Medicaid from birth through age 20.

Disability Resource Library (DRL): The DRL is a resource for people with disabilities of all ages and their families, care providers, and professionals of all kinds. Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health (CEBH): CEBH trains professionals to use best practices to provide services for people with serious mental health issues. Their goal is to improve care for people with serious mental illness, emotional disturbances, and other conditions.

Iowa Association of Persons Supporting Employment First (Iowa APSE): Iowa APSE provides job coach and development training for employment specialists from schools and community rehabilitation programs. Visit their website to find the training schedule.
